A lot of times whether it’s due to weather changes or a lack in our diets our hair seems to take the brunt. What used to be shiny and healthy then becomes frizzy, damaged hair. Sometimes it seems hard to bring them back to life. But, applying these natural homemade hair masks can make them shiny and happy again!

1. Beer & Egg Mask

As a child, I remember having a beer in my life, not to drink but to wash my hair, ha! Whenever there was leftover beer from parties, we’d wash our hair with it and it made it so soft!
Mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tbsp beer, 1 tbsp castor or almond oil, 1 tbsp honey and cover hair from root to tips. Keep it on your head for about 30 minutes and do a final wash with regular water or apple cider vinegar softer hair.

2. Honey Yogurt Hair Mask

Yogurt and Honey mixed together makes for a super strengthening hair mask. Yogurt soothes the scalp, while honey controls the frizz and breakage.
Mix 2 Tbsp of Yogurt with 1 Tbsp of Honey to make this nourishing hair mask.

3. Rice Water Hair Mask

This is an easy one. Whenever you boil in rice to cook, save the rice water. Keep it in a spray bottle so application becomes easier too. Now every week or so, spray the rice water onto your scalp and edges, keep for 20-30 minutes before shampooing your hair. It works well to get nice lustrous hair.

4. Brown Sugar Mask

If you have an itchy scalp, whether because of dandruff or dry skin… then this is what you want to apply to your hair.
Mix in 2Tbsp Brown Sugar in 2Tbsp Oil and apply that on your hair and say goodbye to that scratchy scalp.

5. Strawberry Hair Mask

Do you like eating strawberries? I really do! I like eating them or even making smoothies. But sometimes, some pieces in that tiny box are squished and can’t be eaten. So, when that happens, make a strawberry hair mask!
Take 5-6 Strawberries, 1/4Cup Vinegar, 1/2 Coconut Oil and 3Tbsp Honey.Mix it all into a paste. Apply. Wait. Wash. This smells great and makes the hair shinier.

6. Coconut Oil Hair Mask

It’s known how good coconut oil is for our hair and our skin. But you know what’s better? Coconut Oil mixed with Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar.
These three ingredients mixed together make for an amazing hair mask. Applying this once a week also takes away the frizziness from your hair.

7. Coconut Cinnamon Mask

Cinnamon works well to stimulate hair growth by making the hair healthier from the roots. It also keeps the scalp clean and prevents infections. So next time you decide to apply coconut oil to your hair add in 1/2Tsp Cinnamon Powder to it. Apply this mixture to the tips and edges of your hair and wash after 30 minutes.

8. Avocado Banana Mask

Avocado is not only a treat to eat, it’s also super nutritious for our hair. It rejuvenates and nourishes the scalp. On the other hand, Banana controls dandruff and prevents hair from breaking.
Mix a Banana and an Avocado with 2 Tbsp Olive Oil and massage on your scalp. You could cover it with a hot towel for about 30-40 minutes before you rinse/ wash it out. Use this lovely hair mask at least once a month to make your hair longer and stronger.

9. Rum Hair Mask

Sometimes we want an easier fix, something not too messy. And what better than rum…. no no not your Saturday night fix but for your hair this time!
1Tbsp Rum mixed with 1 Tbsp brewed black tea works wonderfully on dry hair. Mix, apply on the hair, leave for an hour and wash.

10. Lemon & Oil Hair Mask

This one’s a fairly simple one but benefits hair just as well. Lemon juice and Olive Oil helps in reducing dandruff and keep hair shiny and smooth.
To make this mask just mix 2Tbsp lemon juice, 2 Tbsp Olive Oil and 2 Tbsp Water and apply. Wash after 20 minutes.

11. Milk & Honey Mask

Take a glass of milk and add in 1Tbsp Honey to it. Mix it and apply it to your hair. Keep it on for about 25 minutes or so, and then shower with lukewarm water. Honey prevents hair from falling and retains hair moisture. So using this mask will definitely make you softer.

These masks are great for our hair, they strengthen them, make them shinier. But, having said that, don’t overdo it. All hair types are different. So applying this every day could affect your hair quality. Once a week is good for any and all hair types. So, hair masks for that DIY Sunday self-care, hell yes!
